NC uses Regional qualifiers pass students on to NC Thespian Festival. Students may submit one or two Thespys for adjudication.
Students will be adjudicated first at Regional qualifier events. Students who are rated Excellent or Superior in their Thespy event will be passed on to State Thespian Festival to be screened in their event for the International Thespian Festival. Superiors in International Thespian Events are eligible to be adjudicated at that festival in June. After results are received in January and students who are passed on to NC Thespian Festival may polish events, but material MUST NOT be changed. In addition to Thespy events, schools may also submit a One Act to be considered to go onto the State, and potentially International Festival. The rubric used to adjudicate these one acts can be found here! |

What is a Thespy?
The International Thespian Excellence Awards (or Thespys® for short) recognize the highest level of achievement in school theatre performance, technical theatre, writing, and filmmaking.
This educational program celebrates the work of theatre students, giving them the opportunity to receive constructive feedback on prepared theatrical material, technical design, plays, and short films, and recognizing their achievements on local, regional, and international stages. |
Please make sure your students PAY CLOSE attention to all rules, time limits, and requirements in the Program Guide for their events to avoid disqualification, and please check the APPROVED PUBLISHERS LIST for acting and musical events!
Program guide can be found HERE. This page is your resource for RUBRICS, rules, and links to help you and your students prepare for events and tech challenge. |
